A West Virginia man has been charged with 312 counts of incest for repeatedly assaulting a young girl, police said.
Cops said Billie Gene Seabolt, 65, sexually assaulted the girl at least once a week from 2014-2017 and then from 2018 until he was arrested April 28, local CBS affiliate WOWK reported.
Police were called that day to Seabolt’s home in Clendenin, a 1,000-person town in the center of the state about halfway between Louisville, Ky., and Washington, D.C. The caller reported that the girl was forcibly taken from the home by another man, according to WOWK.
But cops caught up with the girl, the other man and his wife at a nearby home, and she told them she wanted to leave Seabolt’s house, WOWK reported. The girl told a state trooper “things of sexual nature were taking place” at the home.
The cops then called an advocacy center. The girl told the center Seabolt had been abusing her for years, according to WOWK. Police then went back to Seabolt’s home and arrested him.
Seabolt was charged with sexual abuse by a guardian, first-degree sexual assault and 312 counts of incest, one for each week of abuse, WOWK reported.
He is being held in West Virginia Regional Jail on $1 million bond, according to online records.
